The Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government
Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo , said a big battle lies ahead of
Governor Siminalayi Fubara ahead of the 2027 elections.
For him, the battle will not be about governor
Siminalayi Fubara alone but for the soul and resources of Rivers State.
Ihunwo, therefore called on all residents who mean
well for the growth and development of Rivers State to rally round Governor
Fubara like never before.
He spoke while granting audience to a socio- political
group in Obio/Akpor Local Government known as Akpor Unity Forum.
The Chief servant of Obio/Akpor local government
however told his guests that with God, governor Fubara will surmount all
challenges.
“I know that some of the people currently supporting
His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara will ditch us before the next general
elections in 2027 maybe for some personal and selfish reasons but I urge you
all to remain firm and loyal to my leader because his priority is Rivers State
and her people, I plead with you to take the message of His Excellency to the
nooks and crannies of Akpor kingdom.”
On their visit, the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpor
local government, Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo promised to carry members of the
group along in the administration of the council.
“You can take it for granted that we will as an
administration carry you along in what we do in the council, it can come in any
shape, be it appointment as aides or as members of committees all geared
towards enhancing development in our LGA.”
Earlier, the leader of Akpor Unity Forum, Chikordi
Dike congratulated Ambassador Chijioke Ihunwo on his election victory,
describing it as the people’s mandate.
Chikordi Dike who is a former CTC chairman of
Obio/Akpor local government also passed a vote of confidence in the leadership
of Ambassador Ihunwo based on his track record so far.
He also appreciated the Obio/Akpor council boss for
the appointment of some sons and daughters of Akpor Kingdom into his team.
“You have already done a lot for our persons but like
Oliver Twist, we ask for more in terms of appointments, as a group we are happy
to work with you and our dear Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara and will always
standing firm on his ideals.”
Present at the meeting was the secretary of council,
Dr Prince Amechi.
