Maduka Okoye expressed his gratitude and pride at
representing Nigeria again, despite the Super Eagles’ 2-1 home loss to
Rwanda on Monday.
Okoye played his first game for the Eagles in 35
months after first choice Stanley Nwabali was excused from the
team due to the loss of his father.
Okoye who was in goal as the Eagles lost for the first
time since March last year posted on X, formerly Twitter, how grateful he was
to be back on the field for the national team.
“Despite the result, I’m more than happy and grateful to have played in this jersey again!” Okoye posted on Twitter after the match.
“It has always been, it is, and it will forever be an
honor to represent Nigeria,” he added.
The defeat, came after the Eagles had already secured
qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
