LAGOS – Veteran broadcaster Prince Bisi
Olatilo was honoured in Lagos as he marked 50 years in broadcasting and the
25th anniversary of his iconic programme, The Bisi Olatilo Show.
The event, held at the MUSON Centre, attracted
dignitaries from various sectors, including traditional rulers, captains of
industry, and fellow media professionals.
According to Jaafar Bala Farouq, Media Aide to
Olorogun Peter Igho, MFR, leading tributes at the event was Olorogun (Dr) Peter
Igho, MFR, National Coordinator of the National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC)
Goodwill Ambassadors for Age-friendly Services and Elder Justice Advocacy.
Praising Olatilo’s enduring legacy, Dr Igho described him as “the embodiment of
the quintessential Nigerian broadcaster” who exemplifies creativity, integrity,
excellence, and patriotism.
Dr Igho emphasized that Prince Olatilo represents the
ideals promoted by the NSCC under the leadership of its Director General, Dr
Emem Omokaro — notably, the active engagement of senior citizens and their
continued contributions to nation-building, alongside mentoring the next
generation of young broadcasters.
He also assured the celebrant of the unwavering
support of the NSCC Goodwill Ambassadors nationwide and wished him many more
years of service to the media and the nation.
Dr Igho was accompanied by an esteemed delegation of
veteran broadcasters and journalists, including Mrs Bimbo Oloyede, Mr Soni
Irabor, Dr Danladi Bako, OON, Alhaji Waheed Olagunju, Chief Tony Okoroji,
Gboyega Adelaja, Bayo Awosemo, Chief Edwin Igbokwe, Tony Akposheri, and Patrick
Doyle.
