The Libyan Football Federation LFF) acting president,
Nasser Al-Suwaie, has informed that Libya has submitted an official protest to
the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against
the decision of the Disciplinary Committee regarding the 2nd leg fixture
against Nigeria's Super Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Disciplinary Committee sanctioned Libya 3points, 3
goals and a fine of fifty thousand dollars, following the events that took
place at Labraq Airport, where the Super Eagles were held in an hostage
situation for more than 15hours after having it's charter flight diverted few
minutes to landing Benghazi.
Al-Suwaie said that the Libyan Football Federation
supported the protest file with documents and evidence indicating that the
Libyan Federation did not commit any violation that would require the
imposition of any penalties.
Nasser Al-Suwaie added that if the Libyan Federation's
protest is rejected, the case file will be referred to the International Court
of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
