Super Eagles played with confidence that has been
lacking for a while against the Amavubis of Rwanda, says Chikelue Ilonyeosi,
adding that he expects to see a more ruthless team against Zimbabwe on Tuesday.
Ilonyeosi, the chairman of Anambra State FA poured
praises on Eric Chelle, the new coach of the team for changing the mentality of
the players, as they exhibited strong passion and determination against Rwanda,
which ensured that Nigeria won 2-0 away two years after Nigeria’s last away
win.
“I can boldly tell you that the confidence of Super
Eagles is back again. You can see that Nigerians are happy, that is how it
supposed to be,” Ilonyeosi told www.totorinews.com, via phone conversation on Sunday.
“I must commend Eric Chelle for creating a team that
played with so much confidence and strenghten of character in defeating Rwanda.
I think the team will get better against Zimbabwe.
He, however cautioned the players to be careful and
not underrate Zimbabwe.
“Super Eagles players should not see Zimbabweaan
players as children, the team is strong and hardly give up. Nigerian players
must approach the game with seriousness in order to win.
“I see Super Eagles beating Zimbabwe on Tuesday, he
said.
