Security operatives have arrested three suspects in
connection with the killing of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps in Jigawa State.
The suspects were apprehended on Monday, March 9,
2026, in Kiyawa Local Government Area following investigations into the death
of Bashir Adamu Jibril.
According to reports, the officer was lynched by a mob
around Shuwarin Market on August 4, 2025, while carrying out his official
duties.
He had reportedly apprehended a suspect when several
accomplices allegedly attacked him with sticks and other weapons, leaving him
with fatal injuries.
Following investigations into the incident, security
operatives tracked down and arrested three individuals believed to be connected
to the attack.
The suspects are currently in custody and are
assisting investigators with further inquiries.
The NSCDC has strongly condemned the killing,
describing it as a brutal attack on a law enforcement officer who was
performing his duty.
Authorities of the corps also assured that all those
responsible for the crime will be brought to justice.
Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
