President Bola Tinubu on Thursday swore in two
new ministers at a brief ceremony inside the Council Chamber of the
State House, Abuja, shortly before presiding over the weekly Federal
Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
The new appointees are Pharmacist Doro, from
Plateau State, and Kingsley Ude (SAN), from Enugu State.
Doro, a pharmacist and lawyer, replaces former Minister
of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, who
recently assumed office as National Chairman of the All Progressives
Congress (APC). His nomination was confirmed by the Senate in late October.
Ude, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, fills the
vacancy created by the resignation of former Minister of Science, Innovation
and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who stepped down following allegations
of certificate forgery.
Before his appointment, Ude served as Enugu State
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. His nomination was confirmed
by the Senate earlier on Thursday after a brief screening.
Following the swearing-in, President Tinubu
immediately opened the FEC meeting, which began with an economic presentation
by Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.
Those present included the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation, George Akume; Head of Civil Service
of the Federation, Esther Walson-Jack; Chief of Staff, Femi
Gbajabiamila; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu;
ministers, and other senior aides.
The meeting was still ongoing at the time of filing
this report.
