We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our
beloved colleague and Chairman of the ValueJet Cup, Alhaji Tade Azeez, who died
at the age of 63 after a brief illness.
A towering figure in Nigerian football, Alhaji Tade
Azeez served two terms as Chairman of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA)
and was Vice-Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA).
Throughout his career, he was actively involved in several football committees
and remained dedicated to the growth and development of football in Nigeria and
across Africa.
Known for his sportsmanship and integrity, Alhaji Tade
rose from being one of Nigeria’s finest referees to becoming a respected
football administrator. He was the driving force behind the highly regarded
ValueJet Cup, one of Nigeria’s most organized off-season football tournaments.
His exceptional achievements, character, and service
have left an indelible mark on Nigerian football. His legacies — including the
ValueJet Cup, his contributions to the development of referees, and his work
with the LSFA and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) — will continue to
inspire future generations.
The Management of the ValueJet Cup, along with its
sponsors and partners, extend heartfelt sympathies to his wife, children, and
all who loved him.
