*SLIDING* *TACKLES*
The State Football Association (State FA) as provided in Article 10 of the Governing NFF Statutes 2010 is One of the Members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Along with 4 Other Members namely - the League Clubs; Players Union; Nigeria Football Coaches Association; and the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA).The State FA is however on a Special Status quite faraway in the Rankings ahead of the Other Members of the NFF against the NFF Statutes which did not provide for any Superior Status among it's Members. The Special Status of the State FAs is clearly seen from the whopping 37 Delegates/Votes allocated to the State FA in the Composition of the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY. While the Rest 4 NFF Members have just One Delegate/Vote each.
With this very clear Majority of both Delegates/Votes unilaterally awarded the State FAs. The State FAs have become the Undisputed Kingmaker in both the Decision making process of the NFF via it's GENERAL ASSEMBLY and in the Election of the Members of the NFF Board which oversees the Administration of Football in Nigeria. However, over the years since the arbitrary award in 2010 and with the clear Position of Dominance of the State FAs over the rest of the Other NFF Members. The Cheated Members of the NFF have continued to complain about the Marginalization which has no reason to be. The aggreived Other Members of the NFF have continued to express serious reservations against the impudence of the illegal and dictatorial Elevation of the State FAs as the clear "Lord's" of the NFF and Nigeria Football.
The disgruntled Other Members of the NFF have continued to emphasize that the Majority Delegates/Votes allocated to the State FAs is Undemocratic, Discriminatory and against the provisions of the NFF Statutes which did not provide for any such Elevation in any of it's Articles. The complaining Other NFF Members strongly argue that in the NFF Statutes, All Members are Equal. And should therefore have Equal Representation in the Decision making Organ of the NFF, the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
This agitation by aggrieved Stakeholders from the Other marginalized NFF Members on an Equitable Composition of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY has for long, been the cause of the now recurring bitter Struggle for the Control of the Administrative Machinery of the NFF which for now is the custody of the State FAs. The Power tussle have bred so many devastating Face offs that always threaten the foundation of our Football lndustry.
Currently, another Big Crisis has erupted again out of the determination of some aggrieved Stakeholders belonging to the Other Members of the NFF. To effect the Amendment of the obnoxious Article which summarily allocated the Majority Delegates/Votes to the State FAs outside the NFF Statutes. The Complainants insist that the State FAs do not represent any Constituency in Nigeria Football. And that the State FAs do not make any Financial Contribution to the Football lndustry and are therefore non Financial Members of the NFF. And should not be given Special Privileges ahead of them who represent the various Constituencies of Nigeria Football and make Financial Contributions to the lndustry.
SLIDING TACKLES in line with it's mandate to Torchlight all issues that facilitate against the proper Development of our Football. Decided to investigate the Allegations raised by the aggreived Other Members of the NFF against the State FAs that the State FAs neither represent Any Football Constituency nor make Any Financial Contribution to the Nigerian Football lndustry. Because if the Allegations of the Protagonists of Equal Representation in the GENERAL ASSEMBLY are true? It would be quite unfair and very wrong for the State FAs who do not represent any Constituency in Nigeria Football and do not make any Financial Contribution to the lndustry. To dominate the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY and take Decisions on Nigeria Football ahead of the Other Members representing the Constituencies of our Football and putting money and efforts into the lndustry. Because someone that doesn't hold any shares in a Company cannot be taking Decisions for the Company ahead of the Directors of the Company.
Now, in the Football lndustry worldwide, there are FIVE CONSTITUENCIES that make up the lndustry. The Constituencies of Football are:
1. The Football League Clubs who organise the Football Clubs that produce the Platform for the Players to play their role.
2. The Players who play the Football as the Main Acts of the Football lndustry and represented by their Players Union.
3. The Football Coaches who coach the Players and represented by their Coaches Association.
4. The Referees who officiate the Football Matches and represented by their Referees Association.
5. The Supporters/Fans Clubs who are the Patrons of both the Clubs and their Leagues.
NOTE: That All the above mentioned 5 Members of the various Football Constituencies invest their Money into the running of the affairs of their Constituencies including also paying AFFILIATION FEES/OTHER DUES to the State FAs for their Upkeep and General Operations.
From the above Delineation of the Football Constituencies of the Nigeria Football lndustry. It's very clear that the State FAs do not represent any Constituency in Nigeria Football and they are the only NFF Member that doesn't have a Constituency. Also it's clear too that while All the Other Members of the NFF with their Constituencies make Financial Contributions to the Football lndustry. It's again only the State FAs that don't make any Financial Contribution to the lndustry but rather survives on the Affiliation Fees and Dues paid to it by the Other Members of the NFF which it (State FAs) are marginalising on NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
From the clear look of things here. The State FA is just the Secretariat collating the Activities of the Other Constituencies and the Members on their behalf. The State FA is akin to a Messenger of the Other Members of the NFF with their Constituencies. It's the collective efforts and activities of the Other NFF Members (Clubs, Players, Coaches and the Referees) that enable a Football match take place. The State FAs are only just called in by the Other Members to come and help them organise a Football match. Finish!
So, how come the State FAs who is but just an Ordinary Messenger in the role hierarchy, be allocated 37 Delegates/Votes in the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY which is the Highest Decision making body of the NFF? While the Other Members with Defined Constituencies and Financial Contribution to the Football lndustry have just a meagre One Delegate/Vote each? Is this Fair and Justified? Does this Allocation Formula not amount to a "Monkey dey Work, Baboon dey Chop"? And it's the Undemocratic and Dictatorial handover of the Decision making of Nigerian Football to the Messengers (State FAs) through the Discriminatory lopsidedness Composition of the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY. That is the Real Root cause of the abysmal Decline of our Football since the forceful Takeover of the Administration of our Football by the non Contributory State FAs.
Nigerian Football is at this it's currently abhorable situation our Football being in the control of the State FAs who do not have any Stake in the Nigerian Football lndustry they are managing on behalf of the Other Contributing NFF Members with Constituencies. This is very wrong and totally unacceptable for the State FAs who don't have any Stake or lnterest in our Football lndustry to be the people taking the Decisions and Directing the Affairs of our Football. Someone without any Stake in a Business cannot be the Decision maker ahead of the people with Stakes in the Business. This is exactly the Problem with our Football and it's most pitiable state. The NFF Board Members dominated clearly by the State FAs are treating the serious issues of our Football like the Appointment of National Team Coaches with levity. Because, they don't have any Stake or anything to lose in the lndustry. That's why they don't care whether our Football is going down.
The conclusion of SLIDING TACKLES from it's in-depth Analysis of the Allegations against the State FAs by the aggreived Other Members of the NFF. That the State FAs do not represent any Constituency in Nigeria Football and also do not contribute any finance to the lndustry. Is that it's totally wrong for the State FAs to control the Majority Delegates/Votes of the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY ahead of the Other Contributing NFF Members. The State FAs should actually have Observer Delegates only and NOT VOTING RIGHTS in the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Yes, the State FAs SHOULD NOT HAVE VOTING RIGHTS in the NFF GENERAL ASSEMBLY because the State FAs do not represent any Constituency and are not Financial Members of the NFF. In every Association, Only Financial Members are accorded Voting Privileges.
