A prominent Niger Delta activist, Anabs
Sara-Igbe, has delivered a stark warning to Nyesom Wike, advising him to
pursue peace and reconciliation before facing public humiliation.
“All the boasting about he will not reconcile with the
governor, I think he should surrender,” Sara-Igbe declared during a Symfoni TV
interview. He emphasized the futility of continued confrontation, stating, “He
should surrender and make peace with the governor because there is nothing, it
cannot go anywhere.”
The activist painted a picture of Wike’s diminishing
political standing, noting, “Already it is collapsing. All the walls around him
are collapsing, and very soon he will be stripped naked.”
Drawing on cultural metaphors, Sara-Igbe warned
of the consequences of public exposure: “When a masquerade is stripped
naked in the marketplace, it becomes a taboo. It becomes a shame.”
Expressing a seemingly compassionate motivation, he
concluded, “I don’t want him to be stripped naked in the marketplace, and the
best way to save himself is to take advantage of the PANDEF resolution, so that
will give him a little bit of cover.”
The comments offer a vivid warning about the potential
consequences of political intransigence, couched in metaphorical language that
emphasizes the importance of reconciliation and saving face.
