The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
has arrested Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo, known as E-Money, over allegations
of mishandling naira and dollar banknotes.
“On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse
and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed
U.S. dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act,” an EFCC source
revealed.
It was gathered that E-Money is being transported to
Abuja for further questioning.
According to reports, EFCC operatives apprehended
E-Money at his home in the Omole area of Lagos State on Monday night. The
arrest follows allegations that he sprayed US dollars at a public event,
contravening the Foreign Exchange Act.
The EFCC has reportedly taken E-Money to Abuja for
further questioning.
