Apple has announced a 30% increase in its Apple Music
subscription fee for Nigerian users, raising the monthly cost of the Individual
plan from N1,000 to N1,300. This change is set to take effect on
June 22, 2025, and marks the first price adjustment since November 2022, when
the fee increased from N 900 to N 1,000 .
Subscribers were notified via email, stating that the
new rate will automatically apply unless the subscription is canceled at least
one day before the renewal date. While Apple did not provide an official reason
for the hike, industry analysts suggest that the depreciation of the Nigerian
Naira against the US Dollar may have influenced the decision .
This price adjustment aligns Apple Music's Individual
plan with competitors in Nigeria. For instance, Spotify increased its Premium
subscription fee by 44% in November 2024, from N 900 to N 1,300 .
Apple Music continues to offer various subscription
plans, including Family and Student options, and provides bundled services
through partnerships with telecom providers like MTN Nigeria. These bundles
combine data plans with Apple Music subscriptions, offering users additional
value .
