Big Brother Naija star Uriel Oputa has advised couples
against taking their private relationship disagreements to social media, saying
some issues are better resolved away from the public.
The reality TV personality shared her views in an
Instagram post, questioning why couples choose to make personal disputes public
and allow strangers online to take sides.
Uriel said social media should not become a platform
where couples seek public judgment over their relationship problems.
She expressed hope that she would eventually have a
partner who understands the importance of handling disagreements privately and
has the emotional maturity to resolve conflicts without involving an audience.
According to her, couples can address relationship
challenges through honest communication, counselling or by seeking guidance
from a trusted professional when necessary.
Uriel also cautioned against assuming that people who
react to relationship controversies online genuinely care about the couple
involved.
She noted that social media users may watch the drama,
choose sides, share screenshots, create memes and argue in the comments before
quickly moving on to another trending topic.
