The interim president of the Nigerian Boxing Federation, (NBF), Azania Omo-Agege has reacted to the recent celebrity boxing fight between two Nigerian Superstars.
It was a contest between Street-pop musician Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable and the Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The event was organised by Heritage Boxing Entertainment held at Landmark Beach, Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos .
Mr Omo-Agege while showering encomiums on the two celebrities noted that the Nigerian Boxing family is happy further stressing that it will go a long way in promoting the profile of boxing in Nigeria.
He maintained that NBF would consider going into partnership with them with a view to making them Ambassadors of the boxing profession in Nigeria.
"Let me say I am so happy to see two Nigerian Superstars take to the boxing ring in a celebrated boxing fight and the NBF will look for any possibility with a view to exploring the opportunity of identifying with their great potential to pulling many Nigerian youths out of the streets to join the boxing trade,"
"I also want to thank the organizers of the celebrity boxing event which has gone a long way in promoting boxing in Nigeria. These are the kind of things we are talking about with such initiative that will complement the official programmes which will expose potentials that will be harnessed for future national and international competitions hence government cannot do it alone.
