The Coalition of Civil Society Networks has commended the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its significant strides in revenue generation and institutional reform, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a statement released over the weekend and signed by the coalition’s coordinator, Abdullahi Ibrahim, the group praised Comptroller General Bashir Adeniyi for his visionary leadership and commitment to transforming the Service for national economic advancement.

“We commend the leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service under the Comptroller General for the progress recorded in revenue generation, structural reforms, and overall contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth,” the statement read.

The coalition highlighted the NCS’s impressive revenue performance in the first half of 2025, with collections totaling ?747.08 billion—a 29.85% increase compared to ?575.36 billion during the same period in 2024. The figure represents 98.03% of the Service’s projected revenue target for the period.

The group attributed the milestone to strategic reforms introduced under Adeniyi’s administration.

“We applaud the Comptroller General for prioritizing technical competence over personal interest by appointing professionals to key revenue-generating positions. These efforts have blocked leakages, curbed economic sabotage, and improved the ease of doing business at the ports,” the coalition noted.

It further urged the NCS to sustain its reform momentum and encouraged other government agencies to emulate the Customs Service by placing national interest above personal or political considerations.

“We will continue to monitor, support, and engage with institutions in the promotion of good governance and effective service delivery,” the statement concluded.

The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to holding institutions accountable while recognizing progress made in line with national development goals.
