Fosla FC Head Coach, Ifeanyi Ubah, has expressed
delight that one of his products at the famous Academy, Onuche Ogbelu, will
feature at the big stage of the 2025 FIFA World Club Championship billed to
hold in USA June 14 through July 13, 2025, Exclusivenews.com.ng reports.
22-year-old Ogbelu is a former school boy U20 Flying
Eagles midfielder and currently on the payroll of Tunisian giants, Esperance du
Tunis.
The Tunisian side are one of Africa's four
representatives in the 32-team tournament. Wydad AC of Morocco, Mamelodi
Sundowns of South Africa and Al Ahly of Egypt are the other three teams
hoisting the continent's flag in the enlarged global clubside football
showpiece.
Ubah said it is a thing of joy and pride for him and
the Fosla Academy to have one of their products feature on such a big stage.
Ubah is the coach who developed the young midfielder leading to his career rise
to U20 National Team and later to Esperance du Tunis.
"The joy and happiness of any parents is to see
their children grow and be successful in life", starts Coach Ubah Thursday
night when Exclusivenews.com.ng called him up.
"For us at Fosla, we're delighted that Onuche is
making a big lift in his career, such that he will be part of the 2025 FIFA
World Club Cup Championship next month in the United States of America.
"He's a young and hard working player. At just 15
years, he started playing for the Fosla senior team during our NLO League. That
tells you how immensely talented and hard working he is" .
"I'm happy for him. We're happy for him, mounting
such a big stage as being part of Esperance du Tunis at the FIFA World Club Cup
Championship", Coach Ubah said confidently.
Esperance are logged in group D alongside CR Flamengo
of Brazil, Chelsea of England and Los Angeles FC of USA.
Ogbelu started his career at Fosla Academy. As an SS 2
he helped them win the 2021 National Principal's Cup. In December 2022, Ogbelu
joined the Nigerian Professional Football League club Nasarawa United. On 30
September 2023, Ogbelu signed a 3-year contract with Tunisian giant Espérance
de Tunis.
