An Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State has ordered the remand of an alleged kidnap suspect, Abubakar Mohammed Bello, in a juvenile correctional facility.

Bello was arraigned before Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi Olateju on a three-count charge of conspiracy, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of firearms.

According to the police charge sheet, the defendant allegedly committed the offences on April 10, 2026, along the Imeri/Idogun Road in Ido-Ani, Ondo State.

The prosecution alleged that Bello conspired with others, who are still at large, to kidnap two women, identified as Yemisi Adeyanju and Sandibo Esther.

Police also accused the defendant of possessing two locally made barrel guns without lawful authority.

The alleged offences were said to violate the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Abduction Law of Ondo State, 2010, and the Firearms Act of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

During the court proceedings, police prosecutor Taiwo Oniyere asked the court to remand the defendant in a juvenile facility because of his age.

Defence counsel Ola Adedire did not oppose the application.

In her ruling, Magistrate Odenusi-Fadeyi Olateju granted the request and ordered that Bello be remanded in a juvenile home pending further proceedings.

The case was adjourned until August 20, 2026, for mention.
