Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-time partner, Georgina
Rodríguez, have revealed details of their intimate wedding ceremony, with Vogue
publishing photographs from the private celebration.
The couple, who reportedly married last week after
Ronaldo proposed with a £3 million ring a year earlier, exchanged vows in the
living room of their £30 million mansion in Cascais, Portugal.
Rodríguez described the ceremony as exactly what she
had imagined, admitting that she struggled to hold back her tears during the
emotional occasion.
According to a copy of their marriage certificate
published by Jornal de Notícias, only four witnesses were present at the
ceremony, alongside the couple’s children.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, and his siblings,
Hugo, Elma and Katia, were reportedly not present and allegedly learned about
the marriage shortly before the ceremony.
Rodríguez explained that despite once dreaming of a
lavish wedding, she ultimately preferred a private celebration surrounded by
her partner and children.
She added that the couple could organise a larger
wedding with family and friends in the future, describing the intimate ceremony
as something more meaningful given their high-profile lifestyles.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, said marriage places their
relationship in “a different league” and suggested that his football career
could be approaching its final stage.
The 41-year-old football star said his future was
largely planned around spending more time with his family. He also left open
the possibility of having another child, while Rodríguez admitted that
expanding their family was something they might consider in the future.
Following their wedding, Ronaldo and Rodríguez made
their first public outing as a married couple with their children on Saturday
night, attending the Saudi Pro League match between Al-Nassr and Al-Fateh at
Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh.
