Delta State has commenced its Economic and Investment
Summit in Asaba, bringing together local and international investors, business
leaders, development partners, and government officials to explore investment
opportunities across key sectors of the state's economy.
The summit has attracted delegations from countries
including Brazil and China, alongside domestic investors and
stakeholders from various industries.
With the theme, "Harnessing Our Strengths,
Unlocking Our Potentials," the event is focused on promoting
investment in strategic sectors such as the state's Special Economic Zone, blue
economy, transport infrastructure, digital economy and innovation, agriculture,
solid minerals and mining, as well as the energy sector.
The Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff
Oborevwori, described the summit as a strategic initiative aimed at
strengthening investor confidence, attracting fresh investments, and fostering
partnerships that will accelerate the state's economic growth and industrial
development.
Renowned Pan-Africanist, Professor Patrick Lumumba,
is delivering the keynote address at the summit, which is also being attended
by senior government officials, business executives, and development partners.
Highlighting the state's economic potential, the
government noted that Delta recorded a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of
approximately ?16.97 trillion in 2024, placing it among Nigeria's
leading state economies, with a significant contribution from non-oil sectors.
