Paris Saint-Germain have
been handed a major boost ahead of their Champions League showdown with
Bayer Leverkusen, as winger Ousmane Dembele has returned to full
training after six weeks out with a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old sustained
the problem while on international duty with France in early September
and had been undergoing rehabilitation at a specialist clinic in Qatar.
PSG confirmed his return by publishing images of him training normally on
Saturday.
Dembele missed Friday’s
thrilling 3–3 draw with Strasbourg in Ligue 1 but has been included in
the travelling squad for Tuesday’s match in Germany, a club source said.
Coach Luis Enrique
will also be encouraged by the return of forwards Desire Doue and Khvicha
Kvaratskhelia, the latter featuring as a substitute against Strasbourg.
However, the European and
French champions remain without midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Joao
Neves, though reports suggest captain Marquinhos may have joined the
squad for the trip.
“I don’t know when the
injured players will return,” Luis Enrique said last week. “We don’t want to
take risks with the players’ health.”
PSG have made a strong start
to their Champions League title defence, defeating Atalanta and Barcelona
in their opening two group-stage matches, while Leverkusen have drawn
with FC Copenhagen and PSV Eindhoven.
