As Muslims across Nigeria and the world mark the
sacred celebration of Eid-el-Kabir, the Chairman of the Anambra State Football Association,
Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi, has extended warm and heartfelt greetings to the
Muslim Ummah, urging peace, unity, and national cohesion.
In a special message to commemorate the festival,
Iloenyosi—former Super Eagles defender, Founder of 042 Football Legends,
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the All Nigerian Football Players Union,
and Senior Special Adviser to the President of the Nigeria Football Federation
(NFF)—called on Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, and
brotherhood which the celebration represents.
“I extend my sincerest felicitations to all our Muslim
brothers and sisters on this spiritually uplifting occasion of Eid-el-Kabir,”
Iloenyosi said. “It is a moment to reflect on the power of faith, unity, and
selflessness.
As a nation, we must stand together, regardless of
religion or background, to build a stronger and more inclusive Nigeria.”
Iloenyosi also used the opportunity to commend the
leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation under its President, Alhaji
Ibrahim Gusau, praising the administration’s commitment to grassroots
development, national team restructuring, and improved player welfare.
“I must commend the leadership of the NFF for the
tremendous work being done to reposition Nigerian football,” Iloenyosi said.
“Under President Gusau, we are seeing renewed focus on youth development,
infrastructure, and the protection of player interests. This is the kind of
leadership the game needs at this crucial time.”
A passionate advocate for footballers’ welfare and
youth empowerment, Iloenyosi reaffirmed his dedication to working with
stakeholders at all levels to promote progress, unity, and excellence within
the game.
“As we celebrate this holy festival, let us also
remember the role of sports in fostering peace, unity, and development in
Nigeria. Football remains a powerful force for good, and we must all work
together to support it.”
Gen. Iloenyosi’s message comes as a strong voice of
unity—combining his experience as a former international footballer with his
active role in shaping the future of Nigerian football.
