Eight Nigerian National League clubs will compete in
the inaugural Abia State Governor’s NALCOMA Pre-Season Tournament, scheduled to
take place in Aba from November 4th to 6th.
The participating teams include Edel FC from Awka,
Solution FC from Awka, Abakaliki FC, Kun Khalifa FC from Owerri, Godswill
Akpabio FC from Uyo, and Abia Comets FC from Umuahia. Additionally, two academy
teams—Diamond Academy from Umuahia and Ahudia Nnem FC from Aba—will complete
the lineup.
Hycient Ezindu, a member of the Organizing Committee,
confirmed that the tournament, endorsed by State Governor Dr. Alex Otti, aims
to help teams prepare effectively for the upcoming NNL season starting on
November 30.
Ezindu explained that this tournament will provide
clubs with an opportunity to evaluate their new signings in a competitive
setting before the league kicks off. “While teams have been training for the
season, this event allows them to assess players in match conditions and offers
coaches a chance to exchange ideas,” he said. This initiative is part of
NALCOMA’s efforts to enhance football in the South East, as represented on the
NNL Board.
