The Lagos State Government has issued a formal notice to all 57 Local Governments (LGs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), outlining approved parking arrangements and access control measures for the Eyo Festival holding on Saturday.

In a statement, the state government said the guidelines were introduced to ensure smooth vehicular movement, public safety, and the uninterrupted flow of the Eyo (Adamu Orisa Play) procession.

According to the statement, the measures form part of efforts to enhance planning, coordination, traffic management, and orderly participation by all stakeholders during the festival.

“It has become imperative to clearly define parking locations and identification protocols for all LGs and LCDAs participating in the festival,” the statement read.

Access Control and Movement Schedule

The government announced the following access and movement timelines:

  • All access roads leading to the event corridor will be fully opened by 8:00 a.m.
  • All access roads will be closed by 11:00 a.m. prompt, as the Eyo procession will commence exactly at that time.
  • No vehicular movement into restricted areas will be allowed after the closure.

Accordingly, all official vehicles, buses, and participants have been advised to arrive early and strictly adhere to the schedule to avoid disruption or denial of access.

Identification and Branding

To ensure proper identification and coordination:

  • Each bus conveying participants from LGs and LCDAs must display a clear identification banner.
  • The banner must be boldly placed at the front of the bus and clearly state the name of the Local Government or LCDA.
  • Only properly identified vehicles will be granted access to designated parking areas.

Approved Car Parks for the Eyo Festival

The Lagos State Government approved the following locations as designated parking areas:

  • Odeya Car Park, Onikan
  • Banquet Hall Car Park
  • Arcade Car Park
  • National Assembly Car Park (VVIPs only)
  • MUSON Centre Car Park
  • National Museum Car Park
  • Cricket Pitch Car Park

The statement urged all LGs and LCDAs to cooperate fully with traffic management and security personnel deployed to the event locations.

“This notice is issued to ensure uniformity, orderliness, and the overall success of the Eyo Festival,” the government said, calling on council chairmen, managers, directors, and coordinators to promptly disseminate the information to all participants for strict compliance.
