The Federal High Court of Nigeria will begin its Easter vacation on April 1, with regular court sittings scheduled to resume on April 14, 2026.

This was disclosed in a statement on Friday by the court’s Director of Information, Dr. Catherine Christopher. She explained that the decision was made in line with the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4(c) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules 2019, as amended.

According to the statement, the Chief Judge of the court, John Terhemba Tsoho, approved the vacation period for all judicial divisions of the court.

However, the court noted that core judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Enugu will remain open throughout the vacation to handle cases of extreme urgency.

The statement added that only specific matters will be considered during the period, including cases involving the enforcement of fundamental rights, arrest or release of vessels, and issues concerning dire national interest.

The court also announced the judges designated to serve during the vacation period. In the Abuja Judicial Division, Emeka Nwite and Musa S. Liman will preside over urgent matters.

For the Lagos Judicial Division, the assigned judges are Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi F. Nkemakonam. In Port Harcourt, Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed will handle urgent cases, while Mabel T. Segun-Bello has been designated for the Enugu Judicial Division.

The circular further advised vacation judges and heads of divisions to refer any matter requiring immediate attention to the Chief Judge for appropriate directives.

It also clarified that the dates stated in the circular override any previously circulated dates regarding the court’s vacation schedule.
