Barcelona announced on Wednesday night that Ferran Torres,
who was forced off in their 1-0 win over Osasuna in La Liga, is suffering from
a hamstring injury. He could miss the Champions League last-16 first leg
against Napoli.
Barcelona are in no mood for upsets. The Catalan side, who beat Osasuna 1-0
in La Liga on Wednesday, lost a key player in Xavi Hernandez's
attack to injury. Ferran Torres, who was forced off in the seventh minute, is suffering a
hamstring injury, the club announced on social media.
"Tests carried out have revealed that first team player
Ferran Torres has a right hamstring injury. He is out and his recovery
will determine his availability," they wrote on X, formerly known as
Twitter.
As a result, the Catalan giants will be without the
striker who has been at his best in recent matches. According
to reports in Spain, he could be out of action for a month.
Ferran Torres could miss the first leg of the
Champions League last 16 tie against Napoli. His progress
will determine whether he will be fit enough to help his team
in Europe's top competition.
With his injury, Barcelona already have nine first
team players unavailable: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marcos Alonso,
Inigo Martinez, Alejandro Balde, Gavi, Sergi Roberto, Raphinha, Joao Felix and
Ferran Torres.
