The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has
assured customers and stakeholders that its operations are continuing without
disruption following a fire incident at its headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement issued by the bank's Group Head of
Corporate Communications, Joe Abuku, the fire broke out on the second floor of
the headquarters on the night of August 1 but was quickly brought under control
before it could spread to other parts of the building.
According to the bank, the incident caused damage to
office furniture, equipment and other office facilities within the affected
section. However, it noted that critical official records remain secure because
they are backed up electronically through cloud-based storage systems.
FMBN also disclosed that investigations are underway
to determine the cause of the fire while a full assessment of the damage is
being carried out.
The bank emphasized that contingency measures were
activated immediately after the incident, allowing normal business operations
to continue without significant interruption. Customers have therefore been
advised that all banking services remain available.
FMBN expressed appreciation to the Federal Fire
Service, the Nigeria Police Force, members of staff and other stakeholders
whose swift and coordinated response helped contain the fire and minimize
damage.
The bank added that it will continue to provide
updates as investigations progress and additional information becomes
available.
