The daughter of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, Dr. Stephanie Ebidenere Diri, has married her spouse, Ballad Tamaradoubra Agbeyei, in a colourful ceremony held in Yenagoa, the state capital.

The couple exchanged vows on Sunday at the headquarters of the Royal House of Grace International Church, where the ceremony attracted several prominent political figures, government officials and dignitaries from across the country.

Among those who attended the wedding were former First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, and Governors Alex Otti of Abia State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State.

Also present were the first ladies of Kwara, Ogun, Delta, Nasarawa and Taraba states, as well as the wife of former Edo State Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki.

The Presiding Overseer of the Royal House of Grace Church, Apostle David Zilly-Aggrey, officiated the wedding after delivering a sermon titled, “Submitting Unto One Another in Love.”

In his message, the cleric urged the newlyweds to build their marriage on love, mutual submission and the fear of God. He reminded them that God must remain at the centre of their union and encouraged them to seek divine direction whenever they encounter disagreements or communication challenges.

Apostle Zilly-Aggrey also commended Governor Diri for choosing to have his daughter’s wedding ceremony in church, describing the decision as an honour.

The bride’s parents, Governor Douye Diri and his wife, Dr. Gloria Diri, prayed for God’s blessings, joy and lasting happiness for the couple.

At the reception, which was chaired by Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the governor congratulated Stephanie and Ballad and advised them to develop effective ways of resolving disagreements without involving third parties.

Otti acknowledged that challenges and disagreements were inevitable in marriage but urged the couple to communicate effectively, manage their differences and remain committed to building a successful family.

He also prayed for God to bless their union and provide them with the resources needed to care for their family.

Other dignitaries at the ceremony included Bayelsa State First Lady, Justice Patience Ama-Diri; Deputy Governor Peter Akpe and his wife, Dr. Favour Akpe; Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi; former Military Administrator of Bayelsa State, Col. Edor Obi (rtd); and former Deputy Governor Peremobowei Ebebi.

The Angola Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. José Bamóquina Zau; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; and Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dame Didi Walson-Jack, were also among the guests.

Several National Assembly members, state lawmakers, traditional rulers, business leaders and senior government officials equally graced the occasion, making it one of the major social events in Bayelsa in recent times.

The celebration brought together political leaders and prominent personalities from different parts of the country to celebrate the couple and wish them a happy and prosperous married life.
