The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the
release of High Court Judge, Justice Faruk Bunza, who was abducted from his
residence in Bunza Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the command's spokesperson,
SP Bashir Usman, the police said the judge regained his freedom after spending
approximately one week in captivity.
According to the command, the kidnappers demanded a
ransom during the period of his abduction. However, security agencies
maintained their stance against negotiating or paying ransom to criminal
groups.
The police disclosed that investigations have been
intensified in collaboration with other security agencies to identify, track
and arrest those responsible for the kidnapping.
The command appealed to members of the public to
assist the investigation by providing credible information that could aid the
arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
Residents were assured that any information shared
with security agencies would be treated confidentially as efforts continue to
strengthen security and combat criminal activities across the state.
The police also encouraged the public to promptly
report useful information through the command's emergency communication
channels.
