A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC),
Joe Igbokwe, has advised that achieving an Igbo presidency in Nigeria will
require a major shift in political behavior and the deliberate formation of
strong alliances with other regions.
Sharing his thoughts on the upcoming 2027 presidential
race via social media, Igbokwe condemned the hostile online conduct of certain
individuals from the South-East. He questioned the logic of aiming for the
highest political office in the country while simultaneously alienating
potential political allies through internet-based attacks.
Highlighting the importance of bridge-building and
diplomacy ahead of the next general elections, Igbokwe warned, "You cannot
insult everybody and expect them to vote for you."
He concluded by urging the region to adopt a more
cooperative and respectful approach to political engagement if it hopes to
secure nationwide support.
