Celebrations erupted across Iran and among the global
Iranian diaspora after news broke that Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed
in a joint United States Armed Forces–Israel Defense Forces airstrike campaign
targeting Iranian leadership and regime structures. Iranian state media
confirmed Khamenei’s death following the strikes.
Videos verified by multiple outlets showed jubilant
scenes in cities such as Tehran, Karaj, and Shiraz, with people cheering from
homes and balconies, honking car horns, playing music, and dancing in the
streets. Residents expressed a mix of joy, disbelief, and relief as news of the
supreme leader’s death spread, with fireworks and public celebrations marking
the moment.
Members of the Iranian diaspora in cities including
London, Madrid, Berlin, Los Angeles, and Brisbane also gathered to celebrate.
Demonstrations included waving flags, cheering, and public festivities, with
many describing the event as a historic turning point for Iran.
