Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya may
have made a quiet exit from the Octagon, according to his longtime coach Eugene
Bareman PeakNews Online reports.
Adesanya, who turns 36 in July, has lost three of his
last fights—two by stoppage—and has not confirmed any plans to return to active
competition. His coach, speaking recently to Combat TV, hinted that “The Last
Stylebender” may have already made peace with a potential retirement.
“Izzy is being Izzy. I don’t know what he’s doing
next, but that’s a good place to be,” Bareman said. “If he was going to fight
again, then he’s going to fight again. If he’s not, then we’ve been
blessed—I’ve been blessed, the world’s been blessed, the team’s been blessed.”
Adesanya’s future has been the subject of speculation
since his knockout loss to Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Saudi Arabia in February.
Following that defeat, the Nigerian-born New Zealander gave a vague statement,
neither confirming nor denying a return.
Ranked No. 4 in the UFC’s middleweight division,
Adesanya holds a professional record of 24-5. Despite the recent downturn in
form, the former champion maintains that his legacy is intact.
His coach’s remarks have only intensified speculation
that Adesanya may have already fought his last UFC bout, marking a quiet end to
one of the most dynamic careers in modern MMA.
Whether a return is still in the cards or not,
Adesanya’s impact on the sport is unquestionable—a charismatic and technical
marvel whose presence elevated the UFC’s global appeal.
As of now, fans and pundits alike await clarity from
the man himself.
