The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has announced plans to continue its military campaign against Iran for at least three more weeks as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate in the Middle East.

According to the Israeli military, thousands of potential targets still remain as operations intensify to weaken Iran’s military infrastructure and strategic capabilities.

Speaking during an interview with CNN on Sunday, IDF spokesperson Effie Defrin said the military already has long-term operational plans in place for the campaign.

“We have thousands of targets ahead,” Defrin said. “We are ready, in coordination with our US allies, with plans through at least the Jewish holiday of Passover, about three weeks from now. And we have deeper plans for even three weeks beyond that.”

The IDF disclosed that since the start of the campaign on February 28, the Israeli Air Force has carried out about 400 waves of airstrikes across western and central Iran.

According to Israeli officials, the strikes have focused on dismantling key infrastructure and targeting operatives linked to Iran’s military, defence systems and weapons production units.

Officials further revealed that the United States and Israel have already targeted thousands of sites since the conflict began, making it one of the most intense periods of military confrontation between the two countries in recent years.

Defrin explained that the campaign is not being conducted under strict time pressure but is instead aimed at achieving broader strategic objectives.

“We are not working according to a stopwatch or timetable, but rather to achieve our goals,” he said.

He added that Israel’s main objective is to significantly weaken the Iranian government and its military capabilities, amid growing concerns that the conflict could spread further across the region.
