The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
has introduced a new online system that allows candidates seeking admission
into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary
Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results
from home.
The initiative, which initially covers results issued
by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is designed to reduce
candidates’ reliance on Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, particularly during
periods of heavy patronage.
Under the new system, JAMB will electronically verify
candidates’ results directly with the relevant examination bodies before
uploading them to their JAMB profiles.
The Board said the initiative would make the O’Level
upload process faster, safer and more convenient while reducing the challenges
associated with the traditional manual process.
According to JAMB, the system will also help tackle
issues such as misplaced certificates, mixed-up documents, fraudulent or
unverified results, and errors in manually entering subjects and grades.
The new arrangement links JAMB’s e-Facility platform
with examination bodies, allowing candidates’ results to be cross-checked
against official records before they are uploaded.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol,
Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the development forms part of the Board’s efforts to
improve service delivery and reduce unnecessary physical visits, queues and
paperwork.
How Candidates Can Verify and Upload
Results
To use the service, candidates are required to obtain
a result verification code through the designated result verification portal.
Applicants will provide their NIN, indicate the number
of O’Level sittings and select the relevant examination body or bodies. They
will also provide their email address and GSM number before making the required
payment.
After payment, candidates will enter their examination
details, including examination number, examination series and examination year.
Once the result is successfully verified, a
Verification Code will be issued.
Candidates are then required to send “VERIFY”
followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019. JAMB said the
verified result will subsequently be uploaded to the candidate’s profile, with
a notification sent to confirm completion.
Candidates with two O’Level sittings must log into
their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”
After entering their Verification Code, the two
verified results will be displayed, allowing candidates to select the subjects
they require.
JAMB said candidates must select a minimum of five and
a maximum of nine subjects, ensuring that no subject is selected more than
once, before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.”
A notification will be issued after the upload is
successfully completed.
The Board said the new system would provide candidates
with a convenient alternative when CBT centres are experiencing long queues,
heavy patronage or network-related challenges.
JAMB added that it would continue to strengthen its
collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies while
deploying technology to simplify admission processes and improve the experience
of UTME candidates.
