An affirmation ceremony held at the Katsina People’s Square on Wednesday saw delegates unanimously affirm Governor Dikko Radda’s candidacy for a second-term bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event involved a total of 2,835 delegates, whom party leaders described as a peaceful and transparent process.

The chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Yakubu Machido, presented the governor to party faithful and declared Radda the APC consensus candidate, noting that the governor was effectively unopposed for the exercise.

APC National Vice Chairman for the North-West zone, Muhammad Garba, said the committee’s mission in Katsina was to ensure a peaceful and credible primary process. He said the affirmation reflected unity and commitment within the party, and thanked Governor Radda and stakeholders across the state for their cooperation.

Former Katsina State governor and Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Committee, Aminu Masari, commended party members for maintaining peace throughout the process. He urged both victorious and unsuccessful aspirants in other contests to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

Masari also said the party’s focus should now shift toward winning the 2027 general elections, adding that APC must work together to secure victories for all its candidates.

In his remarks, Katsina APC Chairman Bishir Saulawa described the party in the state as a strong and united family, stressing that cordial relationships among leaders would continue to attract development and political success.

Speaking after his presentation, Governor Radda thanked delegates, party leaders, and supporters for their confidence in him. He assured the people of Katsina that he would not disappoint them, and appealed for continued support for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the elections.

The ceremony drew top APC officials, political office holders, lawmakers, former governors, local government chairmen, statutory delegates from the 34 local government areas, members of the State Executive Council, women and youth groups, party elders, and other stakeholders.

The event ended with the formal presentation of the APC flag to Governor Radda by the APC North-West National Vice Chairman, confirming him as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
