The Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan has announced the release of Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, the Parish Priest of St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga, in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who was abducted by bandits on Thursday morning.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Chancellor of the Diocese, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed that Fr. Amos regained his freedom and returned home unharmed around 10 p.m. on the same day.

Shanet expressed gratitude to security agencies and members of the public for their prayers, support, and concern during the ordeal.

"Your kind gestures, love, and prayers are a testament to the fact that we are not alone in the struggle to respect and promote the dignity of human life," he said.

He further thanked God for the safe return of Fr. Amos and urged continued prayers for others still in captivity.

"May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of priests, religious, and all the angels, intercede for those in captivity and bring them back to their families and communities safe and sound," Shanet added.
