Britain’s monarch, King Charles III, alongside Queen
Camilla, formally welcomed Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady
Oluremi Tinubu during Nigeria’s state visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday,
March 18.
The visiting delegation was received at Windsor by
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, who introduced them to members
of the Royal Family.
The ceremonial welcome featured a 42-gun salute by the
King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, while both British and Nigerian flags were
displayed across the streets of Windsor.
The two-day state visit, hosted at Windsor Castle, is
expected to strengthen diplomatic ties between both countries, with several
partnerships and memoranda of understanding anticipated.
A state banquet is also scheduled to take place at St
George’s Hall, where King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess
of Wales will host President Tinubu and his delegation.
