The Lagos State Government has announced the
postponement of the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor,
which were initially scheduled to begin on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun
Osiyemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, November 18.
According to the statement:
“The Lagos State Government wishes to inform the
public that the planned rehabilitation works on the Lekki–Ajah corridor,
earlier scheduled to commence on Saturday, 15th November 2025, have been
postponed to a later date.
A new commencement date will be communicated in due course.”
The Commissioner clarified that while major
construction activities will not begin immediately, preliminary works will
continue until the end of the month, ahead of the revised start date.
Osiyemi added that the government remains committed to
improving road infrastructure and ensuring safer, more efficient transportation
for residents.
The postponement follows concerns raised by Lagos
residents over the potential for severe traffic congestion during the festive
season if the rehabilitation proceeded as earlier planned.
