The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of
Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO), Dr Godwin Ehigiamusoe, has commended
the organisers of the annual Sportsville Special Recognition Awards, describing
the initiative as a meaningful contribution to the growth of Nigeria’s sports
sector.
Speaking from his experience at last year’s event,
where he attended as a Special Guest of Honour, Ehigiamusoe expressed
satisfaction with how the ceremony was organised, noting that it reflected
creativity and forward-thinking.
He praised the organisers for sustaining the awards
over time, stressing that consistency remains a key driver of success in any
venture. According to him, many young entrepreneurs often rush the process of
success, overlooking essential elements such as planning and long-term
sustainability.
Drawing from his journey of building LAPO from a
modest startup into one of the leading microfinance institutions in Sub-Saharan
Africa, he encouraged young business owners to focus on developing strong and
unique brands.
He emphasized that brand building requires patience
and persistence but ultimately delivers lasting rewards. He also urged the
organisers to remain committed to celebrating sports personalities, assuring
them that their dedication would yield greater results in the future.
The Edo-born entrepreneur and philanthropist further
confirmed his intention to attend this year’s edition of the awards, scheduled
for April 3 at the Lagos Country Club, under the leadership of Dr Larry
Izamoje.
