A dramatic stoppage-time own goal denied Cristiano
Ronaldo and Al Nassr the chance to secure the Saudi league title after a costly
mistake in the closing moments of the match.
With home supporters already preparing to celebrate, a
Brazilian defender accidentally turned a long throw-in into his own net in the
eighth minute of added time, leaving the title race still open.
Despite the setback, Al Nassr remain in a strong
position at the top of the table, holding a five-point lead over Al Hilal, who
still have a game in hand. With only one league match remaining for Al Nassr
this season, Ronaldo’s side can still clinch the championship when they face
Damac FC next week.
Ronaldo, now 41, is still chasing his first domestic
trophy since joining Al Nassr on a high-profile contract in 2023. His arrival
sparked global attention toward Saudi football and paved the way for several
international stars, including Neymar and Karim Benzema, to move to the Saudi
Pro League.
