Valeria Márquez, a 23-year-old Mexican beauty
influencer, was tragically shot and killed during a TikTok livestream from her
salon, Blossom The Beauty Lounge, in Zapopan, Jalisco, on May 13, 2025. With
nearly 200,000 followers across TikTok and Instagram, Márquez was known for her
beauty and lifestyle content.
The
Incident
During the livestream, Márquez appeared anxious,
mentioning an earlier attempt by someone to deliver an "expensive
gift." Shortly after, a man posing as a delivery person entered the salon,
confirmed her identity, and fatally shot her in the chest and head. The
assailant fled on a motorcycle.
Investigation
The Jalisco state prosecutor's office is investigating
the case as a femicide, a gender-based crime. Authorities have not yet
identified a suspect or established a motive
This incident has sparked outrage and renewed
discussions about gender-based violence in Mexico, where, according to the UN,
approximately 10 women are murdered daily
