A 39-year-old senior officer of the Federal Road
Safety Corps (FRSC), Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi, and her teenage daughter,
Sewa Lasisi, who were declared missing in Ogun State, have been found dead.
Their dismembered remains were reportedly discovered
at the residence of a suspected herbalist in Osun State, in what authorities
believe to be a ritual killing.
Lasisi and her daughter were last seen on Sunday,
November 2, after leaving their home at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan,
Abeokuta. Family members and colleagues later raised the alarm when all
attempts to reach them by phone failed.
Lasisi, a Superintendent Route Commander, was a senior
operational officer responsible for supervising multiple routes and
coordinating strategic enforcement operations within the FRSC.
A Facebook user, Ayomideji Solanke, who has been
following the case, revealed that a family source confirmed that the remains of
the officer and her daughter were recovered over the weekend from the home of a
traditional healer in an undisclosed Osun community.
“The mystery surrounding their disappearance has taken
a tragic turn as their remains were discovered in the home of a suspected
herbalist,” Solanke wrote, adding that the herbalist had fled while his wife
had been arrested.
Confirming the development to the press on Tuesday,
November 18, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, said the
Osun State Police Command had arrested suspects in connection with the killing.
He added that investigators recovered items at the
scene believed to be the body parts of the missing officer and her daughter.
“The Osun command has commenced investigation and made
arrests. They found exhibits suspected to be body parts. For convenience, Osun
will be handling the investigation, and we will provide necessary support,”
Ogunlowo said.
Police efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing
herbalist and unravel the full circumstances surrounding the gruesome killing.
