Superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines
on Tuesday night, November 18, after attending a high-profile White House
dinner hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump in honor of Saudi Crown Prince
Mohammed bin Salman.
Ronaldo, who currently plays in the Saudi Pro League,
was part of the Crown Prince’s delegation and arrived at the event with his
fiancée, Georgina Rodriguez. The appearance marked his first public outing in
the United States since he was accused of rape by an American woman in 2017 —
an allegation he has repeatedly denied.
During the dinner, Trump publicly acknowledged the
Portuguese icon, revealing that his son Barron had been excited to meet the
football legend.
“This room is loaded up with the biggest leaders in
the world — business, sports…,” Trump said. “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo.
Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more
now — just the fact that I introduced you. So I just want to thank you both for
being here.”
The glamorous evening also produced a viral moment
after tech entrepreneur David Sacks shared a selfie featuring Ronaldo, Georgina
Rodriguez, Elon Musk, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, and U.S. Commerce
Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Sacks captioned the snapshot, “Great night!”, with
Lutnick also reposting the image on his social media pages.
The gathering brought together some of the world’s
most influential figures in politics, business, technology, and sports — and
Ronaldo’s presence ensured the event drew global attention.
