A member of the victorious Spartans of Lagos flag
football team, Mololuwa Ayomide Temigbade has set her sight on a career in the
United States of Africa and representing Nigeria at the Olympic Games.
Temigbade revealed as much after helping her side
defeat Warrriors of Lagos 58-53 in this year’s Showtime Bowl Series final at
Meadow Hall, Lekki.
She added in a chat with sports247.ng that the victory
was made possible mostly through self-belief that radiated through Spartans’
squad, as they made history in winning the competition back-to-back.
Temigbade disclosed, “What was running through my mind
was that I just had to believe in myself and my team.
“Although we did not start the season well, I knew
that our quality would come up during the final.
“During the league stage, we were actually down, but
we managed to enter the playoff and found ourselves in the final.
“So, I believed in my team and, since we were in the
final, that meant we were good enough to win the cup.”
She then spoke about the positive effects and personal
implication of her being a champion in the 12-team competition that was known
officially as Showtime Flag Football League (SFFL).
Temigbade said, “This victory means a lot to me,
because I’ve now eventually won something with a team.
“I’ve gone through different teams without winning
anything, until I found myself in Spartans. Now I’ve won a ring and a medal for
the first time. So, it means a lot to me.”
The ebullient lass went on to reveal her next target
and reeled out a bright vision which she has for the future of flag football in
Nigeria and her life in particular.
“I am setting a very big target for myself, because
flag football in Nigeria will soon get to the Olympics. So, that’s my target.
“I want to go to the Olympics, and I want to see
myself budding out in the US. I just want to ball out in the US,” Temigbade
stated.
The exuberant flag football talent then ended by
dedicating the team’s victory to her family, even as she singled out her
mother, her siblings and coach.
