MTN Ghana has addressed customer concerns regarding
rapid data depletion, attributing the increased data consumption to the
transition from 3G to 4G and 5G networks. Stephen Blewett, CEO of MTN Ghana,
emphasized that the enhanced network speeds lead to higher data usage,
particularly when streaming high-definition videos, as platforms automatically
adjust to provide better quality on faster connections.
Blewett refuted allegations of intentional data
siphoning, stating, "We have no reason to steal your data." He
explained that faster networks naturally result in quicker data consumption due
to improved user experiences and higher-quality content delivery.
While MTN Ghana is investing in 5G technology, Blewett
acknowledged that 4G remains the dominant network due to factors like device
affordability and consumer readiness. He noted that the price of 5G devices is
still high, making a good 4G experience sufficient for most users at this time.
The company advises customers to monitor their data
usage and adjust streaming settings to manage consumption effectively. MTN
Ghana remains committed to providing reliable and high-speed connectivity to
its users.
