The International Public Relations Association (IPRA)
has once again spotlighted Nigerian excellence in strategic communication, with
the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and its partner, Image Merchants Promotion
Limited (IMPR), shortlisted for the 2025 Golden World Awards (GWA).
The recognition comes as IPRA prepares a landmark
triple celebration in Accra, Ghana, this October — its 70th anniversary, the
2025 GWA Gala, and the inauguration of a new president. The Ghana Institute of
Public Relations (IPR) will also mark its 50th anniversary.
NCS and IMPR were shortlisted in the Publication
Category, building on their past success at the 2024 awards in Belgrade,
where their “100 Days of Impactful PR at Customs Service” campaign won in the Crisis
Management category. Their repeated recognition affirms Nigeria’s growing
presence on the global stage of strategic communication.
Under the leadership of Comptroller General Adewale
Adeniyi — recently elected President of the World Customs Organisation (WCO) —
the NCS has leveraged strategic communication to drive innovation,
accountability, and record-breaking performance in both revenue generation and
border security. IMPR, publisher of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and
Spokespersons Digest, is a multi-award-winning PR firm renowned for crisis
communication, public affairs, and reputation management.
The IPRA Golden World Awards, founded in 1990, remain
the industry’s most prestigious benchmark for public relations excellence. This
year’s conference, themed “Global Realities and Innovative Communication,”
will run from October 1–3, 2025, featuring sessions on AI in PR
and Climate Change Communication. Keynote addresses will be delivered by
former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, alongside Esther A.N. Cobbah
(IPR Ghana), Arik Karani (APRA), and Nataša Pavlovi? Bujas (IPRA).
With the inauguration of IPRA’s first-ever African
president and Nigeria’s strong representation, the 2025 celebrations in Accra
promise to be a defining moment for the continent’s growing influence in global
public relations.
