Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3,
Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have successfully foiled a suspected
kidnapping and robbery attack along the Wukari–Ikyaior road in
Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State.
In a statement, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad,
Public Relations Officer of the 6 Brigade, explained that troops acted
swiftly after receiving a distress call that criminals had blocked the road
and were attacking civilians.
Upon arriving at the scene, the suspects reportedly fled
into the bush, abandoning their victims and escaping with a motorcycle.
The rescued victims, identified as Mr. Terso
Kerso (48) and Mr. Udongu Terbo (42) from Ikyaior Community, were unconscious
at the time of rescue. They were immediately evacuated to the Federal
University Teaching Hospital, Wukari (FUTHW) for urgent medical attention.
Military Response and Security Measures
Following the incident, troops intensified patrols
and surveillance in the area to prevent further criminal activities and
reassure residents and road users of a sustained security presence.
The Commander of 6 Brigade OPWS, Kingsley
Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their vigilance and
professionalism, noting that their timely intervention prevented
potential loss of lives.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to
proactive operations across its area of responsibility and urged the
public to continue providing credible information to support ongoing
security efforts.
