Nigerian Army Signals Chief Visits Operation HADIN KAI HQ, Assesses Communication Infrastructure in Northeast

The Commander, Corps of Signals (CCS), Nigerian Army, Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, has paid an operational assessment visit to the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in a bid to strengthen communication support for ongoing counter-insurgency operations.

The visit, which took place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, formed part of the Army’s strategic efforts to enhance the installation, maintenance, and protection of critical communication infrastructure across the Northeast theatre.

Communication Backbone for Counter-Insurgency

Maj. Gen. Ugbo explained that his mission was to evaluate the effectiveness of communication systems vital for command and control in the fight against insurgency. He interfaced with commanders and inspected ongoing signals projects in line with directives from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.

“These assets are vital to sustaining effective coordination and command systems,” Maj. Gen. Ugbo emphasized, assuring troops of the Corps’ commitment to delivering robust and innovative communication solutions.

Theatre Commander Commends Signals Corps

The Theatre Commander, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, described communication as “the backbone of successful operations.” He praised Maj. Gen. Ugbo’s foresight and pledged that all critical infrastructures would be adequately protected to sustain operational effectiveness and enhance regional and national security.

Earlier, the Commander, 57 Signal Brigade, Brig. Gen. Nelson Okafor, briefed the CCS on the deployment of new communication equipment and ICT projects, noting their impact in improving command, control, and coordination across the theatre.

Visit Highlights

The visit featured detailed operational briefings, interactive sessions with sector commanders, the exchange of souvenirs, and group photographs.
