The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in partnership with the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), has launched the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) platform. This digital initiative enables Nigerians living abroad to obtain their Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs) remotely, eliminating the need for physical presence in Nigeria.

Key Features of the NRBVN Platform

  • Remote BVN Enrollment: Nigerians in the diaspora can now register for a BVN through secure digital verification and robust Know Your Customer (KYC) processes, aligning with international compliance standards
  • Enhanced Financial Inclusion: The platform is part of a broader strategy to deepen Nigeria's financial sector and encourage greater participation in formal financial systems by Nigerians abroad.
  • Boosting Remittances: With the NRBVN, the CBN aims to increase monthly diaspora remittances to $1 billion, building on the rise from $3.3 billion in 2023 to $4.73 billion in 2024.
  • Access to Financial Services: The NRBVN complements existing diaspora-focused initiatives, providing access to savings, mortgages, pensions, and capital market investments.

How to Apply for NRBVN

To enroll for the NRBVN, follow these steps:
