The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has rolled out
a new AI-driven company registration portal, designed to streamline
business incorporation and improve efficiency in Nigeria’s business
environment.
Registrar-General and CEO of the CAC, Hussaini Ishaq
Magaji (SAN), announced the development on Monday during a stakeholders’ forum
in Kano. He explained that the upgraded platform represents a complete
overhaul of the former Company Registration Portal (CRP) and is aimed at
tackling longstanding service delivery bottlenecks.
According to Magaji, the AI agent will manage
compliance, registry, and customer service tasks with speed and accuracy.
He revealed that the technology is already addressing the backlog of over
7,000 pending registration applications.
The enhanced portal provides instant name approvals
and is programmed to suggest alternative names when the preferred option is
unavailable. “Name reservation is now as simple as opening an email account,”
Magaji said, noting that the AI ensures real-time approvals and seamless user
experience.
However, he admitted that the transition has faced
initial challenges, as users experienced delays in approvals—especially for
services not covered in the first phase of deployment. He attributed the
hiccups to the overwhelming surge of applications being processed by the
system.
Beyond registrations, the Commission also plans to
leverage AI for handling customer inquiries, with the system capable of
processing over 3,000 daily emails. The tool can read, understand, and sort
messages in under a minute, flag duplicate requests, and reroute them to the
right departments for faster resolution.
Magaji reassured business owners and stakeholders that
the Commission is working tirelessly to stabilize the system and enhance
customer satisfaction. “Problems have been identified, and solutions are
already in motion,” he emphasized.
The AI-powered portal, initially launched in June
2025, is expected to revolutionize company registration in Nigeria by
cutting approval times and easing the process of doing business.
