DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff
Oborevwori, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Deputy
Governor, Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN, who died in Warri early Saturday at
the age of 77 after a long illness.
In a heartfelt statement released by his Chief Press
Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori extended his condolences to the
Urhobo nation, the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area, and the
Otu-Jeremi community.
Highlighting Utuama’s impressive career as a law
educator and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Governor Oborevwori recognized his
significant contributions as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General from
1999 to 2007, followed by his tenure as Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Delta,
I mourn the loss of a gentleman, a scholar, and an astute politician, Professor
Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN,” Oborevwori stated. “I received the devastating news of
his death with great shock. He was a dedicated public servant who distinguished
himself in the service of his people.”
The governor praised Utuama's steadfast commitment to
the unity and development of Delta State, offering prayers for divine comfort
for the family and friends he leaves behind.
